Driving change – powering sustainable electric mobility in Hannover

Amidst the bustling halls and innovative showcases of Hannover Messe - the most important international platform and hot spot for industrial transformation – an electric buzz filled the air. The partner country of Hannover Messe 2024 is Norway with the title “Pioneering the Green Industrial Transition” - with Statkraft and Mer, amongst others, at the centre stage.

The transition to electric mobility is not confined by borders, it’s a global movement that requires collective action. With Norway leading the way in EV adoption and Germany’s ambitious targets for emissions reduction, the visit by the Prime Minister, Jonas Gahr Støre and The Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz symbolized a united commitment to a more sustainable future.

The visit by such prominent leaders not only served as a testament to the importance of our work but also highlighted the power of collaboration in driving meaningful change. By bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, and innovators like ourselves, we can create a sustainable ecosystem where electric mobility becomes the norm rather than the exception.

– It is a great honour for Norway to be selected as a partner country at the world’s largest industrial fair. Hannover Messe is perhaps the most important showcase for international industry. The participation gives Norwegian companies a unique opportunity to showcase their innovative products and solutions for the green transition, said Støre.

Empowering change, one charge at a time

At Mer, we believe in more than just providing EV charging solutions – we are committed to transforming the way people move. Our mission is clear: to make sustainable electric mobility easy and accessible for everyone. This mission has been living for over a decade in Norway and together with our owner Statkraft – we are accelerating the transition to electric mobility in other markets as well.

In Germany, Mer will the next couple of years develop the charging infrastructure immensely, with nearly 2000 charging points, due to the Deutschlandnetz tender announced during fall 2023 and the IKEA agreement recently announced in March 2024.
