The Charge awards celebrates excellence in branding in the energy sector by acknowledging and showcasing outstanding work and is a part of the Charge energy branding conference. Celebrating the finest the industry has to offer, it has become the benchmark for best-practices across the global energy branding landscape. This year’s ceremony in Berlin on 23 October featured more entries than ever before.

About the award and conference

“We are delighted to receive ´The world´s best green brand´ award and it confirms that our brand is getting recognized. It highlights the value of branding as a critical tool in communicating innovation and the value of green technology or products,” says Monique Berntsen, Head of brand and communication in Mer.

The award shines a light on brands that are accelerating the energy transition by breaking societal resistance to change, developing green retail products, introducing incentive programs, or making major infrastructure investments around electrification of transport, heat, industry, and so much more.

The winner is acknowledged for having created new systems, products, or solutions to help customers through the sustainable energy transition or have successfully partnered with another company to deliver a value-adding green project worthy of international recognition by their peers.

Visually appealing with a very strong business case

The judges were impressed by the Mer case study, with emphasis on the brand story, development, communication, and strategy:
´This award goes to a company who has achieved or made significant strides towards achieving their sustainability goals. They have delivered impactful initiatives or campaigns that will be influential through the sustainable energy transition. This category also highlights the value of branding as a as a critical tool in communicating innovation and the value of the green technology or products (…) The judges in this category have said that the winner is an easy-to-understand brand and visually appealing with a very strong business case – the winner is Mer! (…) The brand name and logo reflect the strong brand assets Mer owns. There is no confusion about market segmentation, and the brand reflects its social responsibility aptly.´

Global head of business and partnership development in Mer, Pär Möller, represented Mer at the event and received the award.

“It was such a cool sensation when they announced Mer as the winner. A huge sense of pride. It really motivates to see our organization recognized for the hard work we put into sustainability,” he says.
