Mer sells UK public charging network to Be.EV – sharpening focus on core European markets

Mer has agreed to sell its UK public charging network to Be.EV, marking an important step in Mer’s strategic evolution and reinforcing its ambition to be a leading public charging operator in its core European markets.

A win for EV drivers across Europe

The transaction transfers more than 1,600 charging bays across over 450 UK sites to Be.EV, significantly expanding its nationwide footprint. For EV drivers, this means broader access to a strong, reliable charging network, competitive pricing and a continued focus on simplicity and ease of use.

At the same time, the agreement allows Mer to further concentrate its investments and capabilities in Norway, Sweden, Germany and Austria – markets where Mer continues to grow its public charging network and deliver high-quality charging experiences powered by renewable energy.

Be.EV has a strong customer-first approach and clear ambitions in public charging. This transaction allows both companies to focus on what they do best – with the shared aim of making EV charging simple, reliable and accessible for drivers, says Kristoffer Thoner, CEO of Mer.

We are pleased to see the solid UK public charging network we have built become part of Be.EV’s continued growth journey, says Kristoffer Thoner, CEO of Mer.

A seamless transition for customers

Mer’s UK public charging sites will be fully integrated into Be.EV’s network. Customers will continue to access their familiar charging locations, while benefiting from Be.EV’s national offering, including competitive subscription pricing and long off-peak charging windows.

Be.EV has also confirmed plans to build on the solid foundation established by Mer, investing in targeted upgrades and selective equipment replacement over time to further enhance reliability, discoverability and customer experience. No site closures are expected as part of the acquisition.

Clear focus going forward

Following the transaction, Mer will continue to operate its fleet charging business in the UK, which includes approximately 500 workplace chargers available to employees and site visitors. Public charging operations will be fully focused on Mer’s core European markets (Norway, Sweden, Germany and Austria), supporting the company’s long-term strategy and growth ambitions.

This milestone represents a natural next step for Mer, strengthening focus, sharpening priorities and creating an even stronger platform for sustainable growth in public charging across Europe.
